Event Details

The Women’s Fund of New Jersey is hosting “Girl Power: Hear our Voice! See our Results! Feel our Impact!”  a reception saluting the three Montclair High School girls who, by initiating an online petition, successfully advocated to have a woman moderate at least one of the three presidential debates.

The event to celebrate Emma Axelrod, Elena Tsemberis and Sammi Siegel will be from 8:00-10:30 p.m., Thursday, October. 11 at the Bobbi Brown Studio, 8 Lackawanna Plaza in Montclair.   The girls will speak about what motivated them to start the petition and answer questions from the audience.  Assemblywoman Mila Jasey, whose district includes Montclair, will also speak at the event.

The program will be followed by a debate watch party, which will be moderated by Martha Raddatz, Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent for ABC News, from 9-10:30 p.m. and featuring Vice Presidential candidates Joe Biden and Paul Ryan.

Gourmet Refreshments will be served!

Women's Fund of New Jersey

About The Women’s Fund of New Jersey:  Founded in 1995, the Women’s Fund of New Jersey is the only foundation in our state dedicated to investing in women and girls. Our mission is to invest in the power of women and girls through advocacy, grant-making, and strategic programming.  WFNJ created a Women's Policy Institute in 2008 to train grass-roots women leaders in the art of advocacy and help bring positive social change and improve the overall health and well-being of women and their families.  And during the summer 2012, the organization started “Tweet2Eat” a social-media experiment in which inner-city girls tweeted their legislators about the importance of having access to fresh and healthy food.
