Kick off the summer with friends and family and enjoy a beautiful day at the most fantastical park in Illinois. Gina's Gallop is a real reason to run, in memory of and in support of those who struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide. Together we can make a difference to break down the stigma surrounding this indiscriminate, life threatening, yet treatable disease.
Certified by USATF (IL-14053-JW) the fast and flat, newly designed course winds around Arlington Park's neatly manicured tree-filled estate. The race is CARA certified with Chronomix Computerized Timing. Soft drinks and two beer tickets for adults will be provided after the race in the well landscaped picnic grove area. Take a seat close to the starting barriers near the band stage and enjoy live music, fun, and entertainment for the whole family. After the 5K join the 10,000 spectators to cheer on 48 young runners (10-years-old and under) as they break out of the gates on the track and race towards the finish line in a 100-yard Dash.

Gina Giancola SAFE Foundation
Hope, love and friendship are things we wish for everyone to have in their lives. In the fall of 2011, we experienced the most tragic loss imaginable. We lost a friend, a teammate, a sister, and a daughter. We lost Gina. Many looked up to Gina, but her depression became unbearable. The question is not why or how this happened, but what can be done to instill hope in everyone who feel the odious pain Gina had?
As a result, the non-profit Gina Giancola SAFE (Suicide Awareness For Everyone) Foundation was formed. The foundation is committed to educating young adults to reach out to a friend, a teacher, to anyone, and talk; don’t carry your burdens alone. Through hope, love and friendship we will strive to help teens see the good in life and encourage them to seek help when help is needed most.
Gina was about friendship. She was nice to everyone and lit up every room she entered. If we carryon a fraction of Gina’s “light" and cause one person to seek help, we've made a difference.
The Gina Giancola Safe Foundation, Ltd is a registered Illinois Not For Profit organization. All donations are tax-exempt. Proceeds raised from the 5K run/walk help support the SAFE Foundation's scholarship program started in honor of Gina Giancola, Catholic Charities LOSS program, and Erika's Lighthouse.
Thank you for your interest in supporting our organization and cause.
