With Nemo swimming away, and Valentine’s Day approaching, it’s time to warm up with some strong, local beers! Join us at Cape Ann Brewing’s huge Tap Takeover at Cheers in Beacon Hill this Friday, February 15th from 6:00pm - closing! It’s free to get in, the whole Cape Ann crew will be there, and they’ll be giving away free Cape Ann glassware and more, so bring your valentine in to warm up for the night. Space is very limited, so RSVP here to save your spot!
Dylan (head brewer), Jeremy (owner), and fishermen TJ and Tom will be there telling crazy stories about fishing on the Bering Sea (Deadliest Catch, style), possibly knowing your name (token Cheers joke), and pouring an array of Cape Anne’s strongest & rarest beers. I’m pumped for the Fisherman’s Tea Party, a strong, smokey Barleywine brewed with tea, the Dead-Eye Double IPA, a whopping 130IBU cascade and citra double IPA, and the Imperial Pumpkin Stout, which is their crazy 11% ABV stout brewed with real Pumpkin. Check out the full beer list below:
Fisherman’s Tea Party
9.0% ABV, 78 IBU’s
Smokey and smooth, The Tea Party is a barley wine made with 3 different styles of tea that were amongst the types dumped during the Boston Tea Party. Imparting a smokiness up front, the tea also gives the Tea Party a smooth and complex flavor.
Fisherman’s Imperial Pumpkin Stout
11% ABV, 43 IBU’S
The Big Brother version of our original fall seasonal, Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout, is a dark stout accentuated by flavors of the Autumn season. Using real pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, the Cape Ann Brewing Company took a fresh take at the common fall seasonal. This rich dark stout offers an inviting pumpkin spice aroma that gives way to the delicate essence of real pumpkin. The Imperial is more robust and intense in flavor with a noticeably spirituous finish.
Fisherman’s Dead-Eye DIPA
9% ABV, 130 IBU’S
The mother of all hoppy beers, the Double-IPA is loved by many and feared by more. Going against our mission to make balanced beers, a healthy portion of Cascade and Citra hops were used to create a smoothly bitter double IPA with big and lingering floral aromas.
Fisherman’s Pilot Pilsner
5.4% ABV, 35 IBU’s
A traditional Czech Pilsner brewed with Czech Saaz and Tettnanger hops. A light body and crisp finish give this Pilsner a great refreshing taste.
7.0% ABV, 30 IBU’s
Our winter seasonal, the Fisherman’s Navigator is a German-style doppel-bock of exceptional quality, flavors and body. With a toasty biscuit-like malt backbone, it’s unlike any beer you’ve had while managing to remain strictly within a centuries old style.
8.2% ABV, 37 IBU’S
Fisherman’s Dubbel is a Belgian-style Abbey ale, in the grand tradition of the many fishing monks before us, aboard our floating monastery. Sautéed to perfection over the course of five hours this beer has a full body with some slight phenolic notes and hints of dark fruit. A mild hop aroma with no lingering notes of bitterness and a sweet finish. Take your time, relax and enjoy this unique offering.
Fisherman’s WIT-ow’s Walk
5.9% ABV 16 IBU’S
Fisherman’s Witows Walk is a Kristall Wit; brewed in the style of a Witbier but clarified to remove the usual haze of a Witbier (Kristall is German for Crystal, signifying clarity). This light amber beer is very refreshing with an upfront orange flavor and nose finished with hints of coriander and spice. With a slightly higher ABV this beer will warm you up on these cold fall nights.
5.5% ABV, 30 IBU’s
Fisherman’s Brew is an American Amber Lager, brewed by the docks of America’s oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts, from the finest 2-row barley imported from Munich, Belgium and England. At 5.5% ABV and a well balanced 30 IBU’s, this smooth lager offers a toasty malt flavor followed by a dry, hoppy finish.
5.0% ABV, 24 IBU’s
Fisherman’s Ale is a German-style Kolsch Ale that is crisp and refreshing. A style Invented in Cologne, Germany in the early 20th century. It is an easy drinking beer with a touch of noble hops and a light malt sweetness. The perfect accompaniment to a full day reeling ‘em in or watching the game.
5.5% ABV, 64 IBU’s
Fisherman’s IPA is an India Pale Ale handcrafted by the docks of America’s oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts. Made with the finest imported 2-row barley and a healthy helping of Chinook and Sorachi Ace hops, this is a remarkable well-balanced version of this style and should not be missed.
Fisherman's Winter Ale
7.1% ABV, 24 IBU’S
Fisherman’s Winter Ale was brewed with three different tea’s, Chamomile, Jasmine and Genmaicha tea which give this beer a very smooth finish. A full bodied, warming beer it has a light hop character. The deep amber color and slight roasted notes come from the addition of small amounts of chocolate and roasted malts.
With a list like that, there actually is something for everyone.
