Getting to know Arduino at Deezmaker - For Kids & Adults
Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
This workshop includes a take-home Arduino "Leonardo" board and a couple of components specially made by Qtechknow (http://www.qtechknow.com) to use during the class and for you to explore the Arduino beyond this class.
Arduino this...Arduino that... What the heck is an Arduino? What does it do? And how can I use it?
Deezmaker is hosting an Arduino class for kids AND adults so that you can find out these answers and learn the basics about this affordable and easy-to-use microcontroller and how it will change your life.
"Qtechknow", a 12 year old Arduino genius, will be teaching a hands-on workshop on how to work with an Arduino and what the technology is all about, including how it got started and how to write simple programs to make it do really cool stuff.
Here are the topics that we'll cover in this class:
- What the Arduino is and where it came from
- Arduino Shield Concepts
- Software Basics
- Simple Programming and Coding
- How inputs and outputs are used
- A walkthrough of 5 simple hands-on projects
- An open question and answer session with Qtechknow
Every attendee should bring a laptop (Windows or Mac) to participate in the software programming lessons.
Kids and adults 10+ are encouraged to attend, but any hackers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by one parent or guardian. We have limited space, so please only one guardian per child. One ticket purchase is good for one kid student + guardian pair, or one adult student. Our kits are limited to students only.
