CENTRAL GALLERY | A Space to Grow Artists

Opening in April 2014 after an extensive renovation in a long time vacant space, Central Gallery is located in the heart of downtown Bangor’s arts district at 89 Central Street.  This space features at least 12 artists per year through a series of 3 week exhibits, all opening with a reception on the first Friday of each month.  In addition to opening receptions,  Central Gallery hosts artist talks, workshops, musicians, Second Saturday receptions and other creative events throughout the year. KBA stands strongly behind its belief that galleries should be uncensored, all ages and rotate frequently to provide artists with the opportunity to find as many new audiences for their work possible.

Launchpad Arts

Launchpad is a non-profit organization built to serve as a catalyst for creative expression, ideas and collaborations. Through our programs and initiatives, we seek to develop and promote creativity and ensure the sustainability of the arts and artistic ambition.

Launchpad builds creative connections in Maine and beyond through artist residencies, arts education, and artist-led projects and events. Launchpad was created with a slate of initiatives and programs to strengthen the existing Maine artistic landscape. These include its flagship project, the Launchpad Arts Incubator, the HelpArt initiative and the Central Gallery.

Central Gallery is a multi-discipline arts venue that promotes creativity through its mission to present contemporary, emerging and unconventional art, artists and ideas. The gallery helps emerging and mid-career artist’s present new work, while making art and creativity more accessible to the general public. Each year, the space typically presents 12 visual arts exhibitions as well as hosting various events and programs.

As a Space,  we stand strongly behind our belief that galleries should be uncensored, all ages and rotate frequently to provide emerging artists with the opportunity to find as many new audiences for their work as possible. Phase I of renovations at this formerly vacant space were completed in May 2014. The Phase II fundraising campaign is set to launch in late 2015, completing & nearly doubling the size of the venue.
