If you are going into business or volunteering where food handling and preparation is involved, it is beneficial to take some sort of food handling course to become acquainted with proper food handling procedures.
This two hour class gives a general overview of the information covered in ServSafe Essentials 6th Edition, along with a pre- and post- test. While attending this class does not result in a state-recognized certification, it provides the participant with the knowledge to handle, prepare, and store food safely to help prevent food borne illness from occurring to themselves and customers. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the class. If a higher level of certification is needed, we provide ServSafe certification throughout the year as well.
Who can take this class?
-High school youth looking for a job in the food service industry
-Volunteers handling food, who are not required to take SafeStaff or ServSafe (check with your organization's coordinator)
-Those interested in making and selling Cottage Food under the new Cottage Food Law
Who should not take this class?
-Managers of food service establishments (required to take ServSafe)
-Employees of food service establishments (required to take SafeStaff or other type offered by their manager)
