Women in Tech: Intro to the LA Startup Community

Presented by General Assembly + Girls in Tech, Los Angeles + WITI

Tuesday April 9th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

 This free class is an orientation to help you get acquainted with the exciting world of tech in Los Angeles. In thisspecial Women's edition, we will showcase female founders that have founded amazing companies and canvas key events/meetups to attend. In edition to covering the basics, we will talk about VCs, blogs, hot issues, and other resources you should know about. Don't worry, guys are welcome too!

Girls in Tech (GIT) is a global organization focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of likeminded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology. Girls in Tech, Los Angeles (GITLA) is committed to mentoring girls of all ages to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and to become future technology leaders.

WITI is an organization empowering women in business and technology to attain their professional goals. With a global network of smart, tech-savvy women, WITI has powerful programs and partnerships that provide connections, resources, opportunities and a supportive environment.

Drinks and appetizers will be provided by The Honest Company, a monthly subscription providing parents with non-toxic, ecofriendly, beautiful family products founded by Jessica Alba, Chris Gavigan, Brian Lee and Sean Kane.

 

About the Instructor:

Patricia Dao is the Managing Director of Girls in Tech LA. She has had operational and product development roles at TagWorld.com (purchased by Viacom) and Mozes Mobile (acquired by Eprize). She also co-founded VoxBloc, a social loyalty network that rewards consumers for interacting which was acquired by Domninion Enterprises in 2011.
