Event Details

In the second part of our genealogy series, we will explore some essential family history resources. Census records are one of the basic building blocks in assembling a family history. Census records provide a snapshot of a family at a particular point in time. This session will help you learn what information is recorded in the census and how to search for your family in census records. We will discuss federal census records as well as state census records. Did your ancestors live in a town or city? This session will also discuss how to find out if your ancestors are listed in a city directory. After this lecture, you are invited to apply your new knowledge in the Filson’s research library.

Jana Meyer is the Reference Librarian at The Filson. She has a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Louisville and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Kentucky.

Reservations are required.

This event is free for members of The Filson. $10 for non-members
