In conjunction with Marquette University Revolution Labs will be accepting 10 startups, on a first-come-first-serve basis, into the weekend Mini Accelerator with preferential treatment to those applicants who applied to the Revolution Labs Summer 2013 Seed Accelerator. WHAT is the Mini Accelerator?
The Mini Accelerator program is based on the curriculum developed by Steve Blank at Stanford and Berkeley and since adopted by the National Science Foundation, Columbia, Caltech, and scaled through the use of LaunchPad Central.
The Mini Accelerator instructors, Greg Meier and Nick Wichert, are only 2 of 3 individuals in the State of Wisconsin trained by Steve himself. Unlike traditional business classes, the Mini Accelerator is all about learning how to get out of the building, talk with customers, and test hypotheses. You won’t be listening to academics talk about case studies – you will be preparing to make your own and learn directly from customers!
WHO can attend?
The Mini Accelerator is open to all members of the Wisconsin entrepreneurial community but with a focus on those startups and entrepreneurs who are residents of Milwaukee’s Central City and who applied to the Summer 2013 Revolution Labs accelerator.
If you are interested in attending the Mini Accelerator please register only once as a team with an idea or current startup. The accelerator is intended to provide you with the framework taught at leading seed accelerators and universities around the world. Over the weekend you will develop a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to start a new venture and the process by which to do it! You will be expected to present your business model canvas (link). To best prepare for the class we suggest completing Steve Blank's Udacity course (for free), "How to Build a Startup" (link).
Each participating team and team member will receive a 14-day free trial to LaunchPad Central to continue developing, tracking, and engaging with mentors. The goal of the program is to provide you with the necessary tools and equipment to take your idea or current business and begin down the path testing and validating your business model hypotheses to find a repeatable, scalable, and profitable business model.
