Baton Rouge, LA
Louisiana Technology Park's digital media incubator, Level Up Lab (www.leveluplab.com), is launching a series of video game development training courses called GameLab. The courses are designed to cater to new developers or those wanting to lift the veil on how to create an app. The first course will be an introduction to game design to allow participants to design video games without any prior knowledge or experience in development.
In its first course, GameLab will be using a development engine called GameSalad, a development tool that requires no design experience. Participants will design an entire level and game optimized for mobile platforms. While in the course, they'll also learn what royalty free software, art and music are available online, so they can continue making games at home and they will come away with a jump drive containing all of their project files, a version of the game completed by the trainers, other game examples, and information on royalty-free game development assets.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops, so they will be able to take their work home with them.
We do ask that participants be 16 or older.
