Bike Maryland would like to invite you to join us for a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) Workshop to be held at the Quince Orchard Valley Park activities building on Wednesday, June 26th from 7pm - 9:00pm. The purpose of this event is to provide information about the League of American Bicyclists' Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) Program, and to help make the community a safer place to ride for transportation and recreation. Ultimately, we hope to provide communities the tools they need to earn a BFC award from the League of American Bicyclists.
The first half of the workshop will provide information on how to become a Bicycle Friendly Community as well as brief presentations from some of Maryland's Bicycle Friendly Communities. The workshop will conclude with an interactive brainstorming session, allowing attendees to explore and discuss the development and implementation of a BFC Action Plan for Gaithersburg.

Bike Maryland is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to enhance bicycling safety and conditions while providing a voice for bicyclists. Each year we host free safety education workshops for 10,000+ children and adults through our Bike Minded Safety Program. Additionally, Bike Maryland hosts dozens of business, university and community workshops through the Bike Friendly Program. We represent the hundreds of thousands of bicyclists in Maryland through our promotion of awareness and safety campaigns and the enactment of pro-bicycle legislation at the state and local level.
Recent accomplishments include:
- Passage of six state pro-bike bills in the last four years including the 3-foot law and passage of the criminal negligence/manslaughter bill
