FUTURE OF NURSING NATIONAL DAY OF DIALOGUE

GANNETT HEADQUARTERS
7950 Jones Branch Drive
McLean, VA 22107

JUNE 29, 2011 | 1:00PM – 3:00PM ET

Nurse.com will host an expert panel discussion on the implications of the educational recommendations from the Institute of Medicine 2010 report, “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health,” during our first “National Day of Dialogue” on the future of the nursing and healthcare on June 29, 2011. The event, to be held before a live nursing and nursing student audience, will be live-streamed from McLean, VA, between 1:00 - 3:00 PM EST at Nurse.com/Future of Nursing.

Nurses interested in attending the National Day of Dialogue event "in-person" at Gannett Headquarters, McLean, VA on June 29, 2011 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM may pre-register by clicking the "Register" button at the top of this page.

The IOM report, released Oct. 5, 2010, following a two-year study conducted by the IO and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, recommends significant changes in nurses’ roles, responsibilities and education to meet rising demand for care under the reforms of the Affordable Care Act. Among its recommendations, the report supports high-level education and training for RNs including the establishment of residency training programs to assist them in transitioning from education to practice. Additionally, the report recommends 80% of nurses have a bachelor’s degree by 2020.

Nurses number more than 3 million in the U.S. and account for the single largest segment of the U.S. health care work force.
