Event Details

Fun with Frogs, with Dr. Win Everham, FGCU professor – Win Everham is also known as “Dr. Disturbance” because he studies what happens to our environment after distrubances like hurricanes and fires. He is a deep thinker,a fabulous teacher, and a lotof fun to boot! Win will share why frogs are such an important animal to monitor and teach you how to identify them. He’ll show you how the SW Fla Amphibian Monitoring Network works and help you get started on frog monitoring, too.

This is part of the CREW Strolling Science Seminar series - half-day scholarly hikes for adults at the CREW Marsh Trails. Each seminar engages you in citizen science on a specific topic related to the watershed and wildlife of CREW. Seminar leaders are experts in their fields. Gain in-depth knowledge, hands-on field experiences, and get access to online resources. You’ll be able to go home and engage in a citizen science project of your choosing. For more info go to the CREW Trust website at http://crewtrust.org/environmental-education/adult-education/

Fee: $10 for CREW Land & Water Trust members, $15 for non-members

You may register here (and incur service fees) or mail in the registration form located here.

This series is funded in part by a Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program Public Outreach grant.

CREW Land & Water Trust

The CREW Land & Water Trust was established in 1989 as a nonprofit organization to coordinate the land acquisition, land management, and public use of the 60,000-acre Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed. We work closely with our partners, the South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to ensure the protection of the watershed. This watershed, the largest intact watershed in south Florida, straddles Lee and Collier Counties and provides aquifer recharge, natural flood protection, water purification, preservation of wildlife habitat, and public recreation.  CREW's majestic 5,000-acre marsh is the headwaters for the entire watershed.
