Health Care The Times They Are A-Changin'

Program Overview
With President Obama’s reelection, health care reform will move toward full implementation. This Video Teleconference features a distinguished panel of experts discussing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and what it will mean for consumers, providers, and advisors. The panel will focus on main issues such as: state-based exchanges; episodes of care; and the “pay or play” feature. If you are in any way connected to the health care business, you will need to know how to advise your clients on these and related issues under the law.

Attendees will learn: 

  • What the Affordable Care Act will mean for their business
  • State-based exchanges as a way to help insurers meet consumer protection requirements
  • How an episode-of-care payment system will work
  • The implications of “pay or play” (payments as alternatives to buying coverage)
  • What the role of an agent will be in the health care reform environment penalty

Estate planners, financial planners, investment advisors, insurance producers, and retirement counselors.

Moderator:
Gayle C. Holcom, CLU, ChFC
, is vice president, Life, Health & Employee Benefits at Pilkey-Hopping & Ekberg. She is a member of the Tacoma Estate Planning Council, the National Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. She has also served as the chair of the Employee Benefit Section of the Society of FSP.

Panelists:
Gerald Frye, CLU, ChFC, RHU, REBC, CASL, is president and owner of The Benefit Services Group, Inc. (BSG®), an employee benefit brokerage firm he co-founded in 1987. BSG serves nationwide employers in a wide variety of industries, consults for health care systems in Wisconsin and Illinois, and has won several regional “best workplace” awards. Mr. Frye has served for over 25 years in various roles in the insurance and employee benefits industry.

Arthur Tacchino, JD, is an assistant professor of health insurance at The American College where he is responsible for several Huebner School courses as well as course development and design. He has taught business law and ethics at Widener Undergraduate in Chester, PA. Mr. Tacchino is currently assisting with the responsibilities of several health insurance courses offered by the American College and extensively researching Health Care Reform.

2 Continuing Education Credits (Insurance, Legal and CFP) have been approved for this program.
