On January 30, Dan Munz from the hottest tech startup in Washington DC will be at Hypepotamus to meet with startups, city leaders, and lean startup practitioners. It just so happens his tech startup is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau within the federal government.
Come to the Hype so you can:
- Learn how to use lean startup methodologies even inside bureaucracies
- Find out about the latest tools and techniques they’re using
- Get inspired by how they’re using technology to involve citizens
Dan Munz is a web and civic engagement professional with a strong background in public administration. A public servant, web product strategist, and aspiring geek, Dan has over five years' experience in building technology, the open web, and citizen participation into federal mission execution and policymaking.
At the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, he helped conceive and execute the "Know Before You Owe" campaign, which has successfully built an open, participatory, user-focused design process into the disclosures millions of consumers and lenders will use when applying for a mortgage loan.
He currently serves as product director for consumerfinance.gov, the Bureau's flagship digital property. In this role, he is responsible for leading the daily activities of a product-focused web team, articulating product priorities and a release roadmap, and shepherding individual digital products – like the Bureau’s online knowledge base, Ask CFPB – to success on the web.
Prior to working at the Bureau, Dan helped stand up the General Services Administration’s Center for New Media and Civic Engagement, which provides shared services to federal agencies looking to use the web and social media effectively. There, he helped lead the successful launch of challenge.gov, which recently celebrated its second anniversary.
Dan will be at Hypepotamus for a series of events on Jan. 30, starting with the 3:30pm Clean Web Atlanta Hackathon and will follow that with a special meeting with City of Atlanta leaders.
From 7-9pm, Hypepotamus and Lean Startup Atlanta Meetup are co-hosting the inaugural Front Porch Conversation, a new event series featuring notable people from other communities. So pull up a rocking chair, fill up your glass with sweet tea, and get ready to welcome our special guest, Dan Munz.
