During the Fest-Noz, most dances are practiced in a chain or in a circle (everyone holds hands), but there are also dances in pairs and "choreographed" dances, meaning dances enriched with precise artistic elements (sequences, figures, etc.). The major study on Breton dancing is "La tradition populaire de danse en Basse-Bretagne", a book written by Jean-Michel Guilcher.
Both our Breton-style musical groups, Mistral and Sonerion will provide live music at this year's first Fest-Noz dance in Newport!
When: Friday, June 7, 2013 @ 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Celtic Heritage Alliance, Inc.
The Celtic Heritage Alliance is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation fostering awareness and education of Celtic culture on the Oregon Coast.
While nearly one in five Oregonians claim Celtic ancestry, many have lost touch with their roots. Part of the organization’s mission is to connect people with their heritage through music, dance, athletics and other activities.
In its first year, the group has staged the Celtic Festival & Highland Games in June, held an Irish Céilí community dance for the Celtic New Year in October, a Robert Burns Supper in January and an Irish house concert for St. Patrick’s Day.
