" Just the best photo class in town (with wine)! " [Chelsea Boudreaux]

Forget selfies and Instagram filters. Modern technology has made digital photography more accessible than ever—but the many and varied capabilities of a digital camera can be perplexing. Taught in small and informal groups, SF Photo Class takes you through the basics of a digital camera, easing would-be shooters out of automatic and into the world of manual. You’ll also explore the key principles of exposure and depth of field, using the natural beauty of San Francisco as the ultimate backdrop.

From Basics and On The Field to Post-Production, classes are kept small and taught by two friends with varied skills (one prefers Nikon and Photoshop, the other Canon and Lightroom). By the time they're done, you'll want to bring your camera with you wherever you go.

The basics class.

This indoor class come with a Keynote presentation on big screen which covers all the basics:

Learn how to use your camera, the various lenses, and other equipment.
Become familiar with the manual mode by learning how to use your ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.
Embrace the main concepts like exposure, depth of field and learn how to handle any lighting condition.
Get the latest tips on how to be a true photographer by learning the traditional rules, and also how to break them.
Be inspired to take great photos!

Duration is 2 hours.

The on the field class.

Immediately following The Basics class, students who opted for the On the Field class will be escorted by the teachers to perfect San Franciscan locations to practice their brand spanking new skills. This will allow students to shoot outside and show off what you’ve learned. The teachers will be by your side and help you to understand your camera and how to handle the manual mode in real life. They will also challenge you to think outside of the basics photography box and guide you to make the best of the 2 hour practice.

Duration is 2 hours.

The post-production class.

This post production class is the next step to such a well-rounded digital photography course like ours! You will be asked to bring 5 of your best photos from shooting on the field. You will introduce them to us and why you think they were your best choices and we will give you feedback and advice for next time and your future photographic choices. Choosing your photos from the masses is half the battle which you will also learn.

We will then go onto Photoshop, and/or Lightroom depending on your desired focus, and show you the best practices to post produce your photos. This includes going through saturation, contrast, curve, and tools such as patch, clone stamp, etc. If you do not have Photoshop or Lightroom yet, you can download a free trail from Adobe for 30 days to ensure you are able to practice on your own computer.

Walk away from this class with profesionnal and ready-to-print photos!

Leave this class with your photos ready to be printed!

Duration is 2 hours.
