Event Details

That's right, The San Francisco Street Food Festival has a new event!

We loved our Night Market, the kick-off event before the Street Food Festival we've held the last couple of years, but in honor of our last year on Folsom Street, we wanted to try something new, crispy, and something that would be so epic it would quite seriously fry your brain with awesomeness.

The answer?  Unlimited iterations of fried chicken and a complimentary bar* (cocktails AND craft beer). Yeah, woah, we know.

As you walk in you will be (aggressively) greeted with a bucket and some Southern (of market) hospitality.  There's no time to waste.  You take your bucket to the nearest chef stations and start filling your bucket (aggressively) with varieties from more expected chefs than you know what to do with:

Yes, it's a bone-dripping, crispy-crunchy fried chicken celebration with some friends who have made the San Francisco Street Food Festival what it is over the years and done it really, really, really deliciously: think past vendors and first-time vendors from around the country coming together to celebrate the end of a Bay Area institution and to support La Cocina, the non-profit organization that hosts the festival every year.

Not to mention, the sides (oh, the sides!) made by all the chefs above and the bastions of BBQ themselves: The Fatback Collective and Jim n' Nick's BBQ.  And yes, don't fret, we do have vegetarian options too, and we're not just talking about the bar from Calicraft Brewing Co.Campari and Rye on the Road.  When your hand starts to cramp from tearing into your chicken a little too much, sit back and enjoy the live music and games on-site.

Oh yeah, and dessert?  Costumed-crusaders Three Twins Ice Cream will be slinging their crazy delicious scoops (a real reason to scream for ice cream) and cookie monster and man-about-town Omar Mamoon will be bringing his doughpe egg-free Dough & Co (no more wishful thinking: his cookie dough is edible!)

All proceeds from the evening benefit La Cocina, the event organizer and a kitchen incubator for low-income immigrant women food entrepreneurs. Donating and paying for a higher ticket price will help open small food businesses, build jobs, and make dreams come true! Thanks in advance!

*Heads up, hungry people: As with any occasion that you should take your passport to (hello, air travel), we're all for pre-gaming the SF Street Food Festival with you long into the night, but open bar with those handcrafted cocktails and craft beer only applies to the $125 level and up.  In addition to unlimited servings of fried chicken and sides, the $50 ticket level comes with 1 drink token and the $75 ticket level comes with 2 drink tokens.  In case you're feeling extra thirsty after that 2nd helping 6th helping of mac n' cheese, or in case Chef Traci des Jardins just challenged you to a fierce Top Chef-themed game of craft beer pong (hey, it could happen), we'll have extra drinks for sale on the night of.  Cheers!

**Sharing is caring (we agree!), and as much as we can't wait to see all those filtered Instagram shots of you and your friends standing open-mouthed and duck-faced around a heaping bucket o' chicken (tag us!: #SFSFF, @streetfoodsf), each attendee must purchase an entry ticket at the $50, $75, or $125 range to enter and enjoy said bucket (a real winner winner chicken dinner if we ever heard one).  So, as you enjoy that crispy-yet-juicy-ehrmahgerd-piece-of-poultry-perfection, bask in the lustrous glow (er, it might be grease) that comes with supporting your local neighborhood non-profit and local women food-entrepreneurs changing the Bay Area foodscape one tamal, tandoori chicken, and tomato pie at a time.
