Idlewild’s language courses are fun and practical, and were recently included in the "Best of New York 2012" issue of New York Magazine.
The classes are taught in our beautiful bookstore, not a stuffy classroom, and are limited to 14 students so everyone gets a chance to speak in every session.
This class will be taught by Maurice Brochet, a native of Paris with several years' experience teaching in New York, including privately and at language schools, and a dynamic, participatory method that gets students talking.
Is this class for you?
Our French Advanced Intermediate course is designed for people who are already familiar with the basics of French grammar and are fairly conversant in the present, simple past, and simple future tenses. Basic grammar is reviewed as needed, and more advanced grammar is presented, but the second half of each lesson is dedicated to conversation practice. The Advanced Intermediate class is designed to focus largely on the subjunctive tense. It will also cover use of the passive, augmentatives, idiomatic expressions and the gerund. Each student will also be expected to give at least one five-minute presentation, on a topic of their choosing, before the end of the ten-week course.
