The Fall Freelance Workshop, co-sponsored by the NPC Freelance Committee and the DC chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, is a biannual event that focuses on issues of critical importance to freelancers. This year’s two panels cover:
- Financial management: As a freelancer, you’re running your own small business. What are the keys to managing your income and your expenses? Panelists will offer advice on how to get a handle on money issues.
- Selling yourself and your ideas: On this panel, freelancers and editors share their ideas on how to successfully pitch yourself and your stories. How do you get the attention of an editor? How can you break into that magazine you’ve always wanted to write for?
The workshop will run from 1 to 5 p.m., with plenty of time for audience questions and participation. Admission is free for NPC and SPJ Members, general admission is $10. For more information, contact Tam Harbert at email@example.com.
