African Percussion Instruments

Part 2 of this two part experience will focus on the unique purposes and design elements of various African percussion instruments. In this workshops meet Mbira specialist, Kevin Nathaniel Hylton. Learn about the specific cultural and design elements of the Mbira, a wonderful thumb piano known by various names throughout the African continent. Create your own instrument using natural and man-made materials.  

Kevin Nathaniel Hylton is a graduate of Yale University and has composed and recorded music for studio, film as well as several documentaries.
