Love makes Leftover Cuties’ world go ‘round. Leftover Cuties – Shirli McAllen (lead vocals, ukulele), Austin Nicholsen (bass, ukulele, vocals), Mike Bolger (brass, keys, accordion, vocals) and Stuart Johnson (drums, vocals) – have sparked a fire among fans with a timeless prohibition-era jazz sound that combines sultry vocals, pop-perfect songwriting and seasoned musicianship. Their atmospheric live performances draw ever-growing, impassioned crowds in the speakeasies and music clubs of their native Los Angeles. TV themes have won them an international following with Showtime’s “The Big C” and a much-watched ’12 Olympics Samsung ad (with 3+ million YouTube hits, no less). Their first album “Places To Go” scored raves from critics, and their sophomore album “The Spark and the Fire,” produced by multiple Grammy-winner Dave Way (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray), builds on that momentum with more sweet pop concoctions and emotionally candid lyrics.
