FREE book-signing and lecture with best-selling author Michael Shermer. "The Believing Brain: Science, Faith, and the Need to Know"
Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (CST)
Why Do Smart People Believe Weird Things?
Most people like to think that they hold their beliefs because they looked at the facts and then decided what to believe.
But, after 30 years of research in psychology and science, Dr. Shermer shows that we choose our beliefs first and then the explanations for our beliefs come later.
Why does this matter? Because our beliefs govern everything about how we think about the world we live in.
Religion. Ghosts. UFOs. Alternative medicine. Conspiracy theories.
During this event, you'll laugh. You'll be amazed. You'll look at things differently. And, if you're not careful, you may just get rid of some of the beliefs that aren't serving you!
Who Is Michael Shermer?
