FRAMING THE FUTURE
Redeeming the Past
During PhotoNOLA, Louisiana Green Corps (LAGC) will be partnering with the Stella Jones Art Gallery to showcase and sell photography mounted in wood frames made by our youth participants from salvaged wood material. The event is both an art show to promote LAGC’s mission and a fundraising event to enable us to continue working with youth training and education. In the midst of staggering amounts of urban decay, street violence, drug dealing, and failing school systems, LAGC youth participants are trying to build a better world for themselves and their communities. Let's help them! Come show your support for LAGC, NOLA youth, and the restoration efforts!
This exhibit will illuminate the interaction between people (particularly youth) and the urban environment. Works will feature themes of urbanism, urban decay, construction and restoration efforts, urban environmentalism/conservation, and sustainability (i.e. the capacity to endure). Featured artists are Epaul Julien, Harold Baquet, Skip Bolen, Erin Krall, and Jamar Pierre. The artwork will be for sale as will frames and other craft pieces made by participants. In addition, we will have staff available to take custom frame orders. There will be food, drink, and raffles!
Location: Stella Jones Art Gallery
Address: 201 Saint Charles Avenue #132, New Orleans, LA 70170
Date: Saturday, Dec. 1st
Time: 5-6pm Patron Party; 6-9pm General Admission
Become a special friend of Louisiana Green Corps and join us for the Patron Party! Patrons provide significant, tangible support for the youth program. Patrons will gain early entrance, hors d’oeuvres, and will also receive one of our signature frames made from salvaged material from blighted homes in the Greater New Orleans Area. The Patron Party admission cost is $35 which will count as a significant financial contribution and will go directly into youth programming costs.
