The upcoming fundraiser will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 1-4pm at the Community Room located at The Moorings at Squantum Gardens, 420 East Squantum St., Quincy, MA.

All four mediums are volunteering their time for this event and every attendee will be given one FREE raffle ticket to be entered into a raffle that will be drawn throughout the event with an overall value of $85 and growing. Raffle items donated are from various local businesses including autographed books by local Hingham author Don Hussey, Spa products, Kinerase Skin Care, Reiki Gift Certificates, and much more.

Massachusetts Victims of Abuse desperately need your support. The power of numbers can make change. Every little bit counts...more than you know. Hence our motto: "Alone we are weak ... Together we are strong."  No little is too little.

ABOUT MASO:

Massachusetts Survivors Outreach (M.A.S.O.) is a grass roots organization who is currently conducting research on the legal, medical and economic impacts of domestic abuse in the state of Massachusetts and provides holistic healing for survivors of abuse. M.A.S.O. also incorporates aspects of bullying, child abuse and sexual abuse as there is usually some link to a history of domestic abuse.

M.A.S.O. is funded 100% by local community donations and run 100% by volunteers and interns.  The volunteers and interns are passionately committed to researching solutions to this growing epidemic and striving to find the solutions through action.

Some Massachusetts facts:

  • Just in the last ten years alone, child abuse has doubled in the State of Massachusetts while funding to services and protections to victims of abuse have been slashed.
  • The cost of intimate partner violence exceeds $5.8 billion each year, $4.1 billion of which is for direct medical and mental health services.
  • There were fifteen victims of domestic homicide in only the first half of 2006, which was equal to the total killed in 2005
  • One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. One in 33 men have experienced an attempted or completed rape.
  • Batterers will gain custody of the children 70% of the time in Family Court. 2004 Study by Harvard University states, Family Courts in Massachusetts are failing victims of abuse and their children.

Whatever the contribution, you CAN make a difference in the life another…esp in the life of a child, who rarely has a voice in these dire situations. Help us, help others make a difference and put an end to this epidemic.

CAN'T MAKE IT? Please consider making a contribution for as little as $1.00.

We understand these are very difficult economic times for so many families.

We also understand, during these economic times, abuse tends to escalate, placing countless children in harms way.

To show the impact a $1.00 can make, if everyone on this email donated just $1.00, that would raise  almost $1,000 for this organization. Every dollar counts.

TO make a donation, please visit one of these sites for campaign information and donation, MASO Website at http://masso.webs.com/, GoGetFunding Holistic Healing & Researching Solutions to Abuse http://gogetfunding.com/project/holistic-healing-researching-solutions-to-abuse-dv, Fundrazr   https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/3OwK0

Massachusetts Survivors Outreach

Massachusetts Survivors Outreach is a grass roots organization based in Massachusetts who provide holistic health and healing services for victims of interpersonal violence who include survivors of:

  • child abuse
  • sex abuse
  • domestic abuse
  • bullying

Holistic health services provided include:

  • Evidenced based Energy Medicine,
  • Reiki,
  • Holistic Health and Nutritional Coaching,
  • Stress Reduction,
  • Hypnosis,
  • Meditation

With the help of donations, we are hoping to grow and offer more services such as counseling, hypnosis, life coaching as well as  additional resources for survivors of abuse to help them reclaim their lives and work with other organizations to strengthen protection and rights of victims in the court room who are being abused by the very system designed to protect them.

We currently run with 100% volunteers and 100% community donations at this time.  We are not a talk the talk organization but walk the walk every day and have a passion and commitment to create positive change and finding the solutions needed to a huge problem.

Mission Statement:

The Mission of Massachusetts Survivors Outreach (MASO) is heal, educate and empower survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, shed light into the darkness that surrounds these issues as well as provide research and continuing education to professionals working with victims of abuse especially on alternative therapies in treating victims of abuse in the health and wellness communities.  MASO will also provide the tools to overcome the physical, psychological, legal, and spiritual obstacles they face on a daily basis.

MASO believes violence against women and children results from the use of force or threat to achieve and maintain control over others in intimate relationships, and from societal abuse of power and domination in the forms of sexism, racism, homophobia, classism, anti-Semitism, able-bodyism, ageism and other oppressions. MASO recognizes that the abuses of power in society foster battering by perpetuating conditions, which condone violence against women and children. Therefore, it is also the mission of MASO to work for major societal changes in the state of Massachusetts that are necessary to eliminate both personal and societal violence and to eradicate social conditions which contribute to violence against women and children.

MASO's work includes advocating for social change and coalition building at the local, state, regional and national levels.
