Event Details

This event is targeting to any startup founders or CTO who is planning to launch or scale a startup for first 6-12 months. This is also a joint Dinner Party with Hurricane Electric. It means gourmet food, fancy drink and dessert.

Organizer Note

A lot has changed in the last 2 yrs and since Web 2.0 in year 2008. Cloud pricing and cost is becoming so complex and sophisticate that no human being can read and understand the Cloud invoice. It is as bad as reading your medical or insurance bill. This is something you can't ask your engineers, business managers or book keeper accountant to explain the billing. When you receive the big bill, you would have to explain and find ways to manage such painful billing.

This session is not all about billing or pricing. It's more about what you need to understand about setting Cloud for startup in this Post PC Era.

7:00pm Networking - Dinner Party

Speaker: Lecole Cole, Founder & CEO at Skydera

Building a startup in the Cloud has become one of the equalizing forces in company building over the last few years. Starting, building and scaling a company have never been easer. With such ease, established industry’s become susceptible to disruption. This disruption will hit companies that are not able to move fast and adapt to the changing needs and wants of there customers, and enterprise companies will feel this disruption the most.

We’re going to take a deep dive into what it takes to build and scale a startup in the cloud. From estimated cost of creation, burn rates and how to keep cost under control. We will focus on what it would take to build in the current AWS cloud environment, along with available features, tools, and cost comparisons.

  • Cost of creation
  • First 6 months burn rate
  • Scaling while managing burn rate
  • Cost effective DR (Disaster Recovery)
  • Cost effective HA (High Availability)
  • Cost breakdown and how to reduce cost by buying reserved assets.

Lecole Cole

Founder & CEO at Skydera

Lecole founded Skydera in 2009 with the goal of revolutionizing the market for cloud enterprise development by enabling true platform-as-a-service for cross-cloud IT automation. Prior to founding Skydera, Lecole was instrumental to the development of WindSpring, where he led strategy, engineering and business development. Earlier in his career, Lecole led the team at Tele Atlas North America responsible for building the traffic management system for creation, aggregation and display of traffic data across North America for the radio, television and navigation industries. While creating user solutions, back end processes and delivery services, Lecole solved massive real-time data processing and created complex referencing systems that enable many of the traffic management and real-time navigation systems we use today. Lecole is also a veteran of the Hacker Dojo, where Skydera was incubated in its earliest days.
