In the context of a rapidly changing climate, the Sierra Club and 350.org are co-sponsoring the Forward on Climate Rally to demand that President Obama creates a strong climate policy.
The rally will take place on Sunday, February 17th, in Washington, DC, during Presidents Day.
We will all be playing a pivotal role to make it the largest climate rally in the history of the United States, with an expected attendance of over 20,000.
With President Obama about to begin his second term, it is critical that he hears from his constituents about the importance of championing strong climate policy.
Superstorm Sandy has reminded us just how vulnerable Long Island can be to climate change. That is why it is critical that Long Island is represented at the rally.
We got a second bus! There will now be 2 buses departing Long Island to join the rally. We will have 3 pick up spots the morning of the event. The first pick up is at 5:30am, on the campus of Stony Brook University at the West Campus loop, near Staller Center and the Administration Building. The second pick up is at 6am, at the Park n' Ride, off of Rt.110 in Melville, and the last stop is at 6:30am, at Christopher Morely Park, off of the LIE at exit 36.
We will be returning directly after the rally.
We are asking $35 to cover the cost of the bus, but we welcome donations. Any donation will go to cover the cost for someone who can’t afford to go. SPACE IS LIMITED so please sign up quickly if you plan on joining us.
PLEASE CHECK BACK WITH THIS PAGE AS THE EVENT NEARS FOR UPDATES AND ANY CHANGES. Please let the bus coordinator know which stop you are planning to be at, to get on the bus.
