Fort Lauderdale's PARK(ing) Day
Friday, September 20, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
On Friday, September 20th, join event host Cadence as we celebrate FTL's 3rd annual PARK(ing) Day and the event that got Better Block Fort Lauderdale and Revel on the Block in the works! Come spend the day or just take a break. The event will be held at NW 5th ST & Andrews Ave in Fat Village Arts District.
PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day, global event that promotes the importance of green and urban public spaces. It is intended to help people rethink the way we use our streets and promote ideas about how we can create more sustainable cities. This concept of PARK(ing) Day is based on the idea that putting money into a parking meter is like ʻrentingʼ a public space.
PARK(ing) Day was originally created in 2005 by Rebar, a San Francisco-based art and design studio, as an experimental exploration in repurposing public space. Since then, it has been creatively adapted and sparked imaginations around the world.
We hope others will be inspired by Rebar's experiment and host their own #PARKingDay on 9/20: http://parkingday.org/participate.
