Forestry Institute for Teachers PLUS

FIT+ is a professional development educational event intended for those who have attended the Forestry Institute for Teachers. However because of the potential promotional value for FIT, non-FIT graduates may apply. FIT+ will feature Project WET and Project Learning Tree with an emphasis on Project WET.

Past FIT participants have consistently asked for more FIT like professional development following participation in the Forestry Institute for Teachers.

Project WET did not exist when the FIT program was created in 1993. Once Project WET was created, inclusion of Project WET would have meant reducing the Project Learning Tree and or Project WILD enviornmental education content in FIT.

The FIT+ program is an effort to provide additional Environmental Education Professional Development opportunities to educators that enhances their Common Core and Next Generation Science training.

It is important to understand that the FIT+ program must be self-funded (Participants cover all costs) in that it can't distract from our efforts to continue to provide 4 sessions of FIT each summer.

FIT+ is supported by a start-up grant from the USDA Forest Service State & Private Forestry Program.
