Brad Traverse - Instructor

Brad Traverse

Brad Traverse has more than 25 years of experience in government relations, public policy and executive management. His career includes running the D.C. office of a major non-for-profit company, leading a national trade association as its executive director, managing the lobbying activities of a Fortune 100 manufacturing company, and serving as a legislative aide for two U.S. Senators. He has built a strong record and solid reputation both on and off Capitol Hill as a knowledgeable and highly respected member of the government affairs and public policy world, particularly in the field of healthcare.                                 

Brad started compiling job leads more than 15 years ago as a way to connect his job-hunting friends with employee-seeking colleagues in Washington, D.C., and to share leads on often unpublished positions. Originally sent as a weekly email, the number of subscribers and leads grew and grew until it became impossible to manage by webmail.

In 2006, he created www.bradtraverse.com so his members could have access to new leads on a daily basis and so they could more easily search for jobs using the category and keyword functions. Today, Brad has more than 3,000 leads posted on his site, with none more than two months old. He runs the business with his wife, Fraser Traverse, who handles the customer service, technology and book-keeping side of things.


Robert J. Castro - Instructor

       Bob Castro's career in Washington and overseas includes senior foreign policy and global affairs positions, including four years as an appointee at the U.S. Department of State under Secretaries Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, and a decade on Capitol Hill.  He currently advises large corporations and smaller emerging technology companies on international market development and doing business with the U.S. Government.  With a background in public opinion research, business operations, and international trade, infrastructure, and technology policy, Bob has over twenty years combined government, corporate, consulting, and entrepreneurial business experience.

As Chief of Staff (with diplomatic rank of PDAS) for one of the State Department's largest bureaus, Bob coordinated personnel, budgets, and policy.  He has traveled to over 50 countries on U.S. Government business, including delegations and trade missions.

Bob has recently been asked to return to the Foreign Service Institute to create and deliver training modules for USG family members maintaining careers and balancing family considerations while deploying globally.


Ambassador Anthony Quainton - Guest SpeakerAmbassador Anthony Quainton

Distinguished Diplomat-in-Residence, American University School of International Service

Ambassador Anthony Quainton is the Diplomat-in-Residence and a professor of U.S. Foreign Policy, having previously served in the United States Foreign Service and held ambassadorships to the Central African Republic, Nicaragua, Kuwait, and Peru.  As a member of the Foreign Service, Ambassador Quainton received the Department of State Distinguished Honor award and twice received the Presidential Meritorious Service Award.  Ambassador Quainton received his B.A. from Princeton University, a B.Litt from Oxford University, and an LHD from La Roche College.
