“she’s been dead so long
closed in silence so long
she doesn’t know the
sound of her own voice
her infinite beauty"
~ Lady in Brown
Written by Ntozake Shange, for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf is about self-identity and liberation. Seven women are uniquely bonded together through tragedy, pain and women empowerment. Each woman is represented by each color of the rainbow. Not only do the colors represent individual struggles, but also a symbol of unity.
