What would it take to assemble an international collection of food systems maps and data visualizations from around the world and then publish it as both an electronic and a printed e book?

Join Oaklanders Darin Jensen, Director, CAGE Lab, Department of Geography, UC Berkeley, and Molly Roy, CAGE Alumna and freelance cartographer, and other team members to learn more about how they used a creative team, virtual workspaces, lots of paper maps and a Kickstarter campaign that netted more than $29,000 to build an amazing book called Food: An Atlas


Saqib Keval runsThe People's Kitchen, a community restaurant  in Oakland that couples political education and movement building with a high-end, local, organic meal that is lovingly prepared by community chefs. Each monthly People's Kitchen raises money for a different local grassroots radical political project or program--programs have been wildly successful and sold out. Join Saqib and learn about the People's Kitchen concept and get a behind the scenes look at how he makes it happen.


Events will include delicious refreshments, wine and beer, music, and lots of talking, learning and looking.
