In a scene where many sounds have come and gone, Eddie Bitar has pushed through his sound of cutting edge music which has become recognisable in its own right throughout the world. With stunning releases on Paul Van Dyk’s VANDIT arm of powerhouse Armada Music and Indecent Noise’s in-form Mental Asylum Records, Eddie’s catalogue of tracks have found their way in to speakers in each boarder of the globe. Voted number 108 in 2012’s Trance Addict poll, success has continued to snowball for this Canadian-Lebanese producer and DJ. Controlling crowds for huge brands such as ‘The Gallery’ at the world famous Ministry of Sound, London, ‘Trancesport’ tours in Argentina, a residency for ‘The Energy Box’ in London, American breakthrough at ‘L.M.D’ in L.A, U.S.A and state side shows across Australia, Eddie has been ticking continent after continent off the world map at the highest stage . Known for hard hitting, dance floor driven music played well in to the depths of the early hours, his explosive sounds are continuing to cause palpitations all the way through the scene.
With a portfolio of productions bursting at the brim, support from the most established artists has continued to quickly follow. Tracks such as ‘Beruit’ found itself hand-picked as the ‘Best of 2011’ on Vandit’s yearly compliation album, ‘Drift’ being feature on ‘Armada’s ‘Exclusive Tracks and Remixes Volume 2’ album and ‘Rollarcoaser’ (Mental Asylum Records) chosen by BBC Radio 1s Jordan Suckley’s for his ‘The Weekend Has Landed’ C.D. Not only that, but Rollarcoaster was dropped in front of 10,000 clubbers by Aly and Fila at ‘A State of Trance’ Kula Lumpa, Jugganaught (Mental Asylum Records) played by Armin Van Buuren on the most listened to Trance show ‘A State of Trance’ radio and his remix of Paul Van Dyk’s – The Ocean (Vandit) played out at sold out shows in his gig calendar during 2012 and 2013.
Not content on working alone, Eddie’s has found himself in the studio writing tracks with the likes of Bryan Kearney (Balls to the Wall remix), Paul Webster (TBA), Indecent Noise (Poltergeist) the latter of which Beats Media gave a phenomenal 10/10 due to its “stunning heartbreaking melody that balances the punchy beat”.
Expect to hear dark and twisted sounds, ranging from big uplifting Trance melodies, thunderous tech drops and glitch infused Psy, blending a mixture of his own productions and other underground tracks, all pounding from wall-to-wall in to the early clubbing hours.
Matt Bowdidge is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable and exciting new names in trance music today. Since bursting on to the international scene a few years ago, the Australian to UK import has been defining his sound of uplifting and tech melodies, sublimely fused with pounding base lines, that has seen deserved support from many of the world’s most established producers and DJ’s. As one of the most likable, passionate and hard working artists in the scene right now, Matt has had multiple releases on legendary UK Trance Label ‘Discover Records’, which has seen him propel very quickly up the trance ladder.
Wasting no time, Matt opened his Discover Records account delivering a stunning 2 track debut E.P, which “immediately caught the eye of the Discover A&R manager” Activa. ‘Crossing North’, a powerful journey of melodic sounds accompanied ‘The Path’ - the darker B side described by the label as a ‘tougher track with a haunting ethereal vocal line’. With both tracks setting out to define Matt’s sound, strong support followed from the likes Greg Downey, Jon O’Bir, Manuel Le Saux, Mark Sherry, Paul Webster, Bjorn Akesson and Tom Colontonio to name but a few. It was no surprise that ‘Crossing North’ then featured on Armada Music’s ‘2011 top 50 summer trance’ complication, capping off an excellent first release.
Chosen to then remix ‘Tayrona’ by Sly One vs Jurrane, Matt superbly crafted his own take on the track, turning the classic Trance sounding production in to something more high tempo and energetic, with a spine tingling emotionally charged breakdown. Receiving support from Ernesto Vs Bastian, Sophie Sugar, Manuel Le Saux, Paul Trainer, Indecent Noise, Simon Bostock and Ex-Driver and taking a spot on Manuel Le Saux’s 2011 compilation ‘Underground Anthems 4’, it was soon clear why Matt was becoming a Discover favorite.
Subsequently, Matt was then deservedly asked to mix the next ‘Chapter Three’ compilation album, which included a few cheeky reworks and edits, to celebrate Discover releases 61-80, an album that had seen the likes of ‘Sly One vs Jurrane’ and ‘John Askew’ as its previous successors.
With his unique sound starting to fill the speakers of Trance fans all over the world, Matt followed up with 'No Room To Breathe' – one of his most eagerly awaited productions yet. The track didn’t fail to deliver and as a result, was handed picked by one of the world’s most respected Trance duos ‘Aly and Fila’ to feature on the ‘Future Sound of Egypt Volume 2’ album, lining up along other huge names such as Orjan Neilson, Bjorn Akesson, Arctic Moon and Orkedia. Subsequently, the track also found itself on the main playlist of Armin van Buuren's ASOT radio show twice as well as being dropped no fewer than 3 times at 2012’s A State of Trance 550 celebrations in front of more than 50,000 worldwide clubbers. Reaching number 18 in the Beatport chart, it was clear that it’s chart position had lived up to the expectation.
All of this then set Matt up perfectly for his second compilation album, Volume 5 of the prestigious ‘Underground Anthems’ series. The album mirrors one of Matt’s sets perfectly as it moves through the gears starting with a Matt Bowdidge intro rework of the blissfully anthemic “No Way Out” by Activa, building towards its harder tech based conclusion, paying accolade not only to Matt’s ability to mix, but to his keen ability to program the perfect set.
Matt’s latest full time collaboration project with Fraction Record’s Phil Taylor, under their moniker ‘Bowdidge & Taylor’, has already got off to an explosive start. Their debut collaboration ‘Power Cut’, was snapped up by the newly formed Mental Asylum Records, a label set up by tech Trance powerhouse, Indecent Noise. This thumping 140bpm track, blending a mixture of tech and uplifting sounds, was fired out by John O’Callaghan as his opening track at a State of Trance 550 in Den Bosch, and since then received huge support from the world’s top producer/DJs.
Their latest work, which has just been released again on the Mental Asylum label, is a superb remix of Bryan Kearney & Indecent Noise’s ‘Uncommon World’, which again shows their signature uplifting and thumping tech sound, a remix that gained multiple ‘Tune of the Week’s from numerous producer/DJs, including Mark Sherry, Sean Tyas and reaching #22 in the Beatport Trance top 100.
As well as his monthly 1 hour podcast airing on Afterhours FM, 2013 is looking to be a huge year for Bowdidge, with many more live performances, productions and collaborations hitting the scene soon on many top world renowned labels, this is one artist that will be familiar to Trance fans across the globe.
