Event Details

Today at lab we will be talking with Ben Rucka about his recently launched company called Plant n Pick.

Plant N Pick provides sustainable and environmentally friendly products whose purpose is to grow pesticide free organic vegetables anywhere there is sun and for an extended growing period.

Plant N Pick currently manufactures a reusable portable hydroponic all-in-one above ground container and a “Just-Place-In-Sun” vessel. Vegetables can be “home-grown” in these containers to yield fresh organic delights from seed or seedlings applying the correct amounts of water and organic nutrients .

Containers can be used in a variety of limited space settings from just a personal patio enjoyment to school class-room science type projects. Correct amounts of water and nutrients are applied directly to the root system.

These container offer additional plant benefits over conventional growing methods such as: isolates plants from typical in-ground diseases and protects plants from early and late frosts thus extending the growing season."

Where I can use help is with market research covering pricing strategy, marketing, distribution and sales promotions.

Islands of Brilliance

Islands of Brilliance is a technology-centric creative learning experience developed specifically for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Our classes help students gain the focus, socialization, and sense of accomplishment often lacking in traditional education and programming. We currently focus on students ages 9-16 diagnosed with Autism, Aspergers, and PDD-NOS. We offer Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions in which students are matched 1 : 1 with a volunteer mentor from the creative services industry. Together they create a poster or book, using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software.

"Together, we are changing the lens from special needs to special gifts."
