Emerging Curators Program presents
AAWAA invites you to the opening reception of FlyingFish, curated by Mido Lee and Li Ma.
Flying Fish aims to expose and bridge the gap between Asian Americans and Asian people living in America while celebrating the fact that we are all women. The title comes from the idea of being as happy as a fish and as free as a bird. It is cold and dark under water, making it sometimes difficult to see where we are going. A fish, however, can swim up with enough force to jump into the air. The eight artists in this exhibit come from different regions and different personal backgrounds. Their unconventional combinations of East and West communicate the cross-cultural experience in new ways and showcase the progress and innovation made in contemporary Asian American female art.
When & Where
(AAWAA) is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to ensuring the visibility and documentation of Asian American women in the arts. Through exhibitions, publications, and educational programs, we offer thought-provoking perspectives that challenge societal assumptions and promote dialogue.
