Harmony Family Center presents the Flying Colors 5K color run!  100% of the proceeds from this charity event will benefit Harmony Family Center at Montvale as we continue to renovate and restore this cherished, historic property in Blount County.  Formerly a YMCA camp, Montvale has most recently been used for therapeutic family camps for families who have adopted children from the state welfare system.  It has also been home to "The Barn" our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program, community groups, and is available for rental groups such as non-profit agencies, family reunions, weddings, church and corporate retreats and more.  For more info on Harmony Family Center, please click here

The Flying Colors 5K will begin and end at Maryville College, and wind through the surrounding city streets as participants are blasted with colored powder throughout!  After finishing the event, participants will take part in a giant color celebration extravaganza...The Grand Finale!  The Flying Colors 5K will NOT be a timed race.  It's more about doing something healthy, having a great time, and doing it all for Montvale...a great cause!   So, whether you're young, old, a runner, a walker, a jogger, or just slightly interested in what a color run is all about, jump in!  Sign up!  Life's not meant to be lived on the sideline.  Join in the fun and "Let it Fly" at the Flying Colors 5K in Maryville, TN.

If you would like to volunteer the day of the race, please visit our Volunteer Registration Site.

If you are a virtual runner or if you miss the race, you will be able to pick up your swag bag at Harmony Family Center at a later date.

What to wear:

Wear whatever you long as it's white!  Seriously, if you want to maximize your color coverage, wear white.  You'll be gleaming at the start, and covered with color at the finish.  Beyond that, get creative! Costumes?  You bet!  Team get-ups? Absolutely!

The Grand Finale!:

Immediately following the race, runners and spectators alike will gather for the biggest blast of color of the day, as well as music, dancing, and plenty of F-U-N!  So make sure you stick won't want to miss this!

There will be plenty of dance music to help you shake off the color.

Post-race refreshments (bagels, fruit, water, etc.)  will be available at no charge to the participants.

Don’t forget to patronize our sponsors and vendors.  Stop by for local deals and samples, as well as fun activities and contests for the whole family.

There will be a post-race ceremony to award door prizes (you must be present to win).  Since this will not be a timed event, there will be no other prizes awarded.  But the door prizes will be worth it!

What the heck is this color powder?

According to the manufacturer, the colored powder, or celebration powder, is referred to as Gulal or Holi Powder. It is not considered a food item.  Due to the demand of Gulal/Holi for these (color run) events, they make the celebration powder available, which is comprised of cornstarch and FD&C colorants.

Will this stuff come off my skin and out of my hair?

The color can stain people and clothing, but not permanently.  A good blast with a leaf blower to get the big stuff off, then baby wipes, soap and water, and detergent for clothing will do the trick.

Can I use my camera or cell phone to take pictures?

The color powder will work its way into every nick and cranny of everything it's exposed too.  Please feel free to take some great pics (and post them on the Harmony Family Center page!) at your own risk.

Why isn't this a timed event?

This event will be an absolute (color) blast no matter what your mile-per-minute time is.  So, we're not going to worry about the time, and neither should you.  Although, if you REALLY want to keep track, it will be a 5K course, and we haven't banned watches...yet!

Do I get a TEAM discount?

To receive a team discount, 4 people must register on one ticket.  If you and 3 family members or friends register at the same time, you will receive the $5/person discount.  You may join a team, or even start your own team with fewer than 4 people, however, you will not receive a discount unless 4 people register together, all at once.

Can I pick up my team's packet all together?

Yes! Follow the directions which will be sent to team members at a later date.

Do I have to be in a team to participate?

No. You can participate as an individual or as a team.

What do I get with my registration fee?

You'll get to participate in one of the most fun, unique, colorful events ANYWHERE!  Plus, you'll know you did it all for a great cause, as 100% of the proceeds go to Harmony Family Center at Montvale.  Oh, and you'll get a sweet event t-shirt, a pair of glasses/goggles, a bag of color, and some other great offers from our sponsors via a Virtual Race Bag.

I am not in the best of shape, can I still participate?

Again, this isn't about setting records or even running for time, it's about having a total blast.  You can walk/jog/run as much as you want to.  But, as always, you should consult your physician if you have any doubts!

I am pregnant/have a medical issue, can I still participate?

Good question...please consult your physician before registering.

What is the minimum age to participate?

There is no minimum age!  Anyone can run, however, all participants who are running must register for the race.  Kids ages 5 and under can participate FREE!!!

Can I bring a stroller?

Only large-wheeled jogging strollers are allowed.  Because of the terrain, regular strollers will not be allowed.

What should I bring to the event?

DO bring: cash (if you would like to purchase extra color powder or other items our vendors may provide), white clothes (optional...but strongly encouraged) and/or costumes, baby wipes, paper towels, a towel or sheet for your car afterwards, a camera or cell phone for pics (but be sure to protect it with a plastic bag or something similar).  Wanna be the envy of all the runners?  Pack all your gear in a handy dandy fanny pack and you're off to the races!

DON'T bring: credit cards, pets, and other illegal stuff like fireworks, weapons, or alcohol

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions about participation as a runner, a vendor, or a sponsor?

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

No, sorry.
