Florida 4-H Legislature is an annual event in Tallahassee, FL which gives youth ages 13-18 an opportunity to learn about the legislative process through week long hands-on activities. Youth act as Lobbyists, Representatives, Senators, and Reporters (as well as other smaller roles) to lobby for or against bills, debate, pass, and veto bills. All activities take place at the Capitol building where youth get to sit in the actual chambers. There is also room for downtime at the end of each day.
Manuals 1 and 2 are available for printing on florida4h.org. You can also find other resources on the website.
Bring both manuals to the training along with something to write. We will cover the weeks' activities, expectations, roles and responsibilities, and have activities that will get you to start thinking like a legislator!
Parents are welcome to join in the training. Hope to see you all on June 4th.
