Mission

The Flora Pearl Foundation is a community focused nonprofit mentoring organization empowering students and parents to live on purpose through education, community service, and career planning.

Organization Overview

The Flora Pearl Foundation was created to pay tribute to, Flora Pearl Humphrey (she passed in January 2001 of a massive heart attack). She was a beacon of light not only for her family, but for all of those who came in contact with her. She was a woman of faith, class, style, and grace who continuously inspired people and communities to become better through her generous lifestyle.

General Information

Educator, advocate, and mentor Latasha J. Humphrey founded The Flora Pearl Foundation in 2011 after helping to redefine mentoring by collaborating on the creation of "Youth First Breakfast Club" with the Birmingham Schools. The "Youth First Breakfast Club" is a venue to support schools while offering mentoring opportunities to students; it is a result of Latasha's enduring work with The City of Birmingham Mayor's Office Division of Youth Services, in conjunction with the Birmingham City School Partners in Education and A.M. Moore Ministries. This wonderful experience inspired Latasha to create a community non-profit organization that would empower students and parents to take responsibility for their lives and to live on purpose.
