The First Looks Work-in-Progress Screening Series is a new, quarterly collaboration between Venice Arts and the International Documentary Association. The program offers the public and members of the film community advance access to new documentaries in progress, and the opportunity to participate in behind-the-scenes conversations with filmmakers and creators.
7:30pm film screening & discussion with the filmmakers
This quarter, we'll be screening Ride with Larry, a feature-length documentary that puts a human face on the day-to-day fight against Parkinson’s through the story of Larry Smith, a retired police captain, now beloved small-town baker. After twenty years with the Parkinson’s, Larry plans to bike across his state of South Dakota in the Spring of 2011 with the support of his family and community to show the power of keeping your body active and mind positive, proving that the best cure is living life to its fullest. Watch a trailer for the film below.
Additional films will be announced closer to screening dates. To be added to the mailing list to receive information as it becomes available, please click here and select to be added to the IDA/Venice Arts screening list.
