Pure Noire Modeling Coterie (PNMC) strives to mentor and aide young women in discovering their inner and outer beauty by giving them the tools to approach life with poise, confidence, style and grace. PNMC will nurture young women and equip, empower, and educate them to grow mentally, physically, and socially to be able to function with their peers and become leaders of their own destinies.
Christopher Griffin, CEO, had the idea of starting a youth program for 5 years prior to the initial conception of PNMC. As a former LEAP Site Coordinator, Lead Tutor for New Haven Reads, and Transitional Coach for Youth Continuum, Chris has developed a love for youth and a passion for making change in his community. With 6 years of modeling under his belt and a vast number of fashion shows, Chris has gained experience and knowledge of the fashion industry. When the idea sparked for PNMC he realized that many young women and girls lacked self esteem and weren’t being taught how to have style and grace. With the support of Co-Founder Renee Brown, COO, the dream was born. Renee has a bachelor’s degree in English from Southern Connecticut State University and has an entrepreneurial spirit. The idea of starting a Modeling Organization for young girls seemed perfect for New Haven because this city doesn’t have a program of this unique stature. Our young women are allowing the media to define beauty and they are emulating what they see, negative and positive images. She believes it’s up to us to mentor them and help them find themselves. Renee has created many partnerships with people in the fashion industry through her work as a hairstylist and brings that exposure to the program. Renee is a mentor and role model for many young women who she has worked with through LEAP and at SCSU. She currently serves the community through her position as a Care Coordinator at the Clifford Beers Clinic. Christopher is currently employed at Children’s Community Programs as a Youth Development Coach serving juvenile paroles ages 15-19.
