Do you have sticky notes on the fridge, at your computer, maybe even in your car with little messages to yourself, you know, those short reminders, to-do lists, errands? I sure do, and they help, mostly, to remind me of what's up next.
"Just breathe," however, is the one that helps me the most. Sounds silly, doesn't it, since we’re all breathing all the time, yet it’s true.
Did you know that as you intentionally slow your breathing, time actually begins to downshift? By "just breathing" you can actually find more moments vs. running ahead of yourself into this afternoon! If you’re short on time, "just breathing" can actually afford you more time in your day--amazing!
Join me on Tuesday September 17th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for Finding More Moments. In this 2-hour workshop will :
- Observe what ‘grabs’ you the most to take you out of the moment (good since you’re looking for more!)
- Tune into your moods & work with them by increasing self awareness and choice
- Learn the skill of focusing your attention & energy, and increasing your concentration
As a result you’ll see where and how you can actually Find More Moments in your life each day, leaving the workshop with at least one take away practice that you can begin to use immediately.
This workshop also serves as an intro to A Mindful Course,™ an eight-week mindfulness based stress reduction course (mbsr) that provides systematic training in meditation that's set to begin on October 1st, 2013. Chris L. Johnson, PsyD. brings a unique, fresh perspective to the work of transforming individuals and organizations--the practice of mindfulness and embodied learning.
Chris has been teaching A Mindful Course™ in Chicago-land for over thirteen years. She employs the proven MBSR curriculum based on the highly respected work of Jon Kabat-Zinn as expressed in Full Catastrophe Living and the more than 30 years of evidence-based research from The Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
She also brings her advanced training in somatics—the study of the mind-body-spirit integration—from Strozzi Institute--to this course.
Chris holds a PsyD. from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where she teaches in the Executive and Professional Development Program.
