Event Details

Using the life of Dolley Madison and other First Ladies, Catherine Allgor makes the case for the women of the White House as sources of history. From the role of caretaker of the executive mansion to media darling (or otherwise), presidential spouses have much to tell about the political system, the person of the president, and even what it means to be a woman of their era.  To really "hear" what First Ladies have to tell that we ask different questions of our past--questions which Catherine Allgor explores.

A light reception will precede the event.  Several of Dr. Allgor's publications will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation.
