As this year's high school graduates ease into their summer vacations, the first day of college is right around the corner and because the cost of higher education isn't going down, it's more important than ever that you know what financial aid options are available to you. On June 26 from 7 to 8 p.m., The Record, at 501 Broadway, Troy, is hosting a presentation on tips for college financial aid.
Topics will include:
- What is Financial Aid?
- Types of Financial Aid
- Determining the Best Way to Finance Your Education
- Where to Turn For Help
Erin Zagaski, who is part of the Citizens Bank Education Finance Team, will review of different sources of financial aid that help fill the "financial gap" (the amount remaining after financial aid is received). This includes the pros and cons between various loan programs to help a family decide what might work best for them, as well as reviewing some of the other options that are available such as payment plans and home equity.
There will be plenty of time for a Q&A session as well.
Refreshments and snacks will be served, and those who attend will be entered to win one of two available raffle prizes.
The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited so your RSVP is requested.
