Share Film Experience Hackathon

Event Details


Coders, hackers, filmmakers and visual artists will join forces to create new and innovative ideas demonstrating how technology can enrich the end-to-end movie experience. 

Over the course of the weekend, teams will self-assemble and create a proof-of-concept, prototype and/or fully working application that is focused on one or more of the following film experience areas:

  • Discover: Improve the experience of discovering, learning about, locating, and ticket-buying/streaming/downloading a movie.
  •  Watch: Enrich the movie-viewing experience itself through multimedia and interactive elements.
  •  Engage: Rethink the ways that viewers can share opinions, reviews, and have conversations—online and/or offline—about movies. 
Judges will select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner based on effectiveness, innovation, team pitch, and overall impression. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 
  • 1st PlaceSXSW Film & Bond Strategy Prize Package
    The winning team will receive three (3) SXSW 2013 Film Badges ($650 value each) and be featured as a highlighted participant in the inaugural Film Startup Alley at the 2013 SXSW Film Conference & Festival. This new programming track brings together the startup, entrepreneur and investor communities under one umbrella at a prime location. Featuring various events, panels, and networking opportunities, the Film Startup Alley will be the hub of the entrepreneur and filmmaking communities at SXSW Film. The team will also receive $2500 Finishing Fund to refine and complete your Film Experience hack for SXSW and 12 Hours of marketing/pitch consulting from Bond Strategy & Influence.
