::Presenting:: Violence in US Society: Socio-historical Perspectives

The mass killings of the school children in Sandy Hook Elementary School re-ignited a nationwide debate on gun violence, the constitutional “right to bear arms,” and myriad other related topics. While these aspects of violence in US society are important, other critical one are not. For example, some communities and certain groups of people in the U.S. face, with clockwork precision and as a matter of course, unrelenting interpersonal, group, and institutional violence. Gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, nation are not unrelated to the systematic and systemic nature and origins of that violence. Participants will be invited to share their thoughts and possible ways to address violence—in whichever ways it appears—in their communities.

Garry Hare, PhD, Program Director, Media Psychology

::Presenting::The World Goes Mobile

Innovations in mobile technology, particularly Augmented Reality (AR), are about to change how we understand visual information.  Dr. Hare will show prototypes and recent AR applications illustrating real time language translation, the future of social advocacy and how value is being added to education, architectural environments as well as traditional print and electronic media. Augmented Reality's impact on information design, cognition and the user experience present new challenges for application development and the methodology used to understand it.

Katrina Rogers, PhD, Senior Vice President & Provost

::Presenting:: Organizational Change: A Case Study from the Field of Sustainability

This presentation discusses research that explores the role of individuals in leading organizational change to improve environmental sustainability.
