Event Details

Please allow 20 minutes to get from the Brooker Creek Preseve entrance to the classroom.  Registration starts at 8:30 AM.

This program is designed to provide training in Best Management Practices for anyone working in the lawn, landscape, pest control, or municipal ground areas. It provides the training and testing necessary to obtain a Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer (LCULCF). It is focused on reducing non-point source pollution resulting from fertilization or pesticide application.

BMP certification will be awarded to those passing the exam.

This course can also be taken online. We strongly recommend that you download and read the manual prior to taking the online course or attending the classroom session.

NOTE: There are no CEUs given with the online course.

This class is offered at no cost to, Pinellas County Employees, Pinellas County School Board Employees, and Pinellas County Master Gardener Volunteers. Identification must be provided on the day of class to attend this class for free.  Food cost is $15.

Breakfast will include coffee, bagels and cream cheese.  Lunch will be Italian with salad and bread.  Snacks in PM.

A maximum of 4 CEUs can be earned by attending this class. Attendees will earn 2 CORE and may select their 2 additional CEUs from: Pvt. App. Ag.,  Ornamental & Turf (O&T), Limited Lawn & Ornamental (LL&O), Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM), or Commercial Lawn & Ornamental (Comm. L&O).

                        History, Background & Overview of the BMP Program & Local Ordinances.

How to use the BMPs to protect water quality.

Best Management Practices for healthy lawns and landscapes. Includes mowing, pruning, fertilization & irrigation effects on plant health and ability to tolerate pest pressures.

We will provide a full refund for cancellations made by Pinellas County Extension. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process. Refunds - Refunds will be made in the event of a class cancellation or if the registrant requests a refund 24 hours prior to the class time. Reservations - You must be 18 to make a reservation.
