- Blackmagic Design 4K Cinema Camera, VFX - Beyond the Explosions and 20 Feet from Stardom -

Join us Wednesday, February 26, 2014 for another not to be missed lacpug.

We welcome back Marco Solorio who will show off and tell you all about what you need to know about the now shipping and lower cost ($2995) Blackmagic Design 4K Cinema Camera.

Plus, picture editor Kevin Klauber returns having JUST won a 2014 ACE Eddy award for the hit feature documentary film, "20 Feet From Stardom." Kevin will show clips from that movie and talk workflow, take questions and hopefully be joined by co-editors Jason Zeldes and Doug Blush. 20 Feet From Stardom is also nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature and an Independent Spirit award.

Also film editor Misha Tenenbaum returns to present "VFX - Beyond the Explosions." He'll demonstrate how more than 200 shots were tracked in the recent JOBS movie, and show the technical aspect of turning those shots over to the visual effects facility.

Agenda (subject to change)

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus
Monica Daniel, Adam Bedford Michael Kammes and Philip Hodgetts as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:20PM - 7:25PM - Announcements
If we have time, this is your time. Get up and tell us something about yourself. Ask for a job, offer a job. Whatever you want. Keep it brief

7:30 - 8:00 - "VFX - Beyond the Explosions." Misha Tenenbaum
Visual effects are much more prevalent in films than just the big obvious shots. Often even simple shows have dozens or even hundreds of visual effects, making communicating information about those shots an increasingly important job.  Organization is the key, and Misha Tenenbaum plans to show just that.  He'll demonstrate how more than 200 shots were tracked in the recent JOBS film, and show the technical aspect of turning those shots over to the visual effects facility.  He'll also display some great techniques for creating fast temp effects which are used to give the director options.  Join us for a fun half an hour of VFX shop talk.
