David Livingston, President of Lourdes University, Best Practices

Are you new to fundraising or new to your fundraising position in a community or organization?

Dr. Livingston will share best practices on how to overcome transitional issues in your new role. He will examine and explain the steps needed to assure the fundraising success of your organization and of your career. Whether you work in a small shop or large organization, certain key steps are needed to solidify your development plan in an effective manner.

 If you are new to an area, or just new to an organization or position, there are steps that need to be taken to become a part of the local community. How will I assess the needs of the organization and the needs of the community in a short time in order to continue the mission of the organization? How do I develop a culture of acceptance for the new ideas on fundraising that I bring to the position?  Overcoming the “that’s the way we have always done it” mentality, while being respectful of past decision makers.

When you are new to a role, the window for effective change in an organization is short. Join us to hear some wonderful ideas on how to impact positive change.

Our Speaker

David Livingston was born and raised in suburban Chicago. Dave graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, where he majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics. He completed an M.A. in theology at Loyola University in Chicago and a Ph. D. in Theology at Vanderbilt University. Dave received tenure and became department chair of the Religious Studies Department at Mercyhurst. While a faculty member, Dave worked to develop a study abroad program for students. Dave’s scholarship focuses primarily on the theological and ethical aspects of forgiveness and reconciliation. After ten years on the faculty Dave moved to the administration in the role of Vice President for Advancement. Dave had responsibility for all alumni, government relations, and development activities. Dave also managed the public relations and marketing areas of the University. Dave has been married to his wife Joan for 26 years. They have two adult children Matt and Sara. He moved to Toledo in July of 2013 to become the 9th President of Lourdes University.

Membership luncheons are as follows: $15 for members, $20 for non-members. If you RSVP and do not attend/pay, members will be billed $15 and non-members will be billed $20.
