When & Where
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency created by the U.S. Congress to maintain stability and public confidence in the U.S. financial system. The FDIC does this by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for at least $250,00 and limiting the effect on the economy and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. As a natural progression, the FIDC also sells assets. Through the Owned Real Estate Marketplace, the FDIC sells multi-family, single-family, land/agricultural and commercial real estate.
