Description
The Marion County Farm Bureau is hosting a Farm to Feast Dinner on August 22nd. Four local farms will host a farm dinner and give an overview of their farm operation. After dinner, guests from all four farms will meet in Marion at the Harding Centre for dessert, Ohio beer and wine and entertainment. Tickets include dinner, dessert and two samples of Ohio beer or wine. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.
Farm Dinner: 5:00 pm
Dessert and Ohio Beer and Wine: 7:30 pm
Proceeds from the event will benefit Marion County Farm Bureau's Farm to Family program.
The Farm to Family program includes hosting cooking demonstrations at local food pantries where participants learned how to prepare 3-4 meals, and each family received the ingredients to prepare a meal at home. A cookbook with affordable, yet nutritious recipes was also developed. Lastly, another part of the Farm to Family program is planting a one-acre sweet corn patch at the Marion YMCA. The community was invited to pick corn; as well as, local food pantries were able to harvest the corn and distribute to those in need.
